                                                   GUEST REVIEWS

We loved our time at Colombage, the perfect place to relax (as much as our one year old son Oliver would let us)  He loved the garden and all the toys and enjoyed the warm pool.  A great base for days out to Mont St. Michel.  The D Day beaches and lovely local villages.  We particularly enjoyed Avranches with the botanical gardens - great for the little one.  Would recommend to friends and family who want a quiet and peaceful location with some of the comforts of home.      James, Sue and Oliver Braily, Surrey. UK .

What a wonderful stay at Colombage, we couldn't have asked for anything more.  The perfect gite in the most beautiful and tranquil setting and so well equipped.  Neil and Christine were the perfect hosts and nothing seemed to be too much trouble.  It was our first family holiday with our 9 month old baby girl and she loved every minute of it, but we think the pool was her firm favourite.  Swimming 5 days out of the 7 certainly got her excited.  A great base to see the local countryside, Mont St. Michel (fine with baby in a carrier).  The zoo and Fougeres castle.  Thank you for making our first holiday as a family so special.  We will certainly receommend La Hallotiere to our friends.  Bronia, Anthony and Emilia Sanders, Surrey. UK

We have had the most relaxing week here in Colombage.  The Gite and surroundings are beautiful, and have totally rejuvenated us.  Neil and Christine have been great hosts and a lot of fun.  We couldn't have asked for a more pefect holiday.  Perfect weather, beautiful surrounding and a pool as well!  Spot on.   Sue, Mark, Karen, John and Tom.  Surrey. We've had a lovely time, perfect relaxing holiday.  Such a great place to stay - saw out a couple of birthdays in style.  Hugs and kisses from Joe.  Alec,Jude, Joe and Amy.  Manchester, UK.

A little slice of heaven - a wonderful stay.  Fanastic hosts, a beautiful gite, a really homely feel.  All the little touches make this feel like a home rather than a holiday home.  The pool is marvellous and very welcome in the hot weather we experienced.  Beautiful location - great for exploring Normany.  Perfect peace, the best sleep we have had in years, and what a view to wake up to.  Thanks Neil and Christine for such a lovely break. Debbie and Colin, Surrey, UK.

Many thanks to Neil and Christine for being very warm and welcoming hosts.  Loved the peaceful surroundings, just what we needed after a very stressful few months.  We will recommend you to all our friends!  Thank you from the four of us.  Mike, Sue, Lauren and Alex, Leicestershire. UK

Lovely stay at Colombage.  Kids loved their evening nature walks, especially the family of otters just down the hill.  Red squirrels and 'Gilbert' the local bird of prey.  If visiting Mont St. Michel take Neil and Christines advice and arrive before 9 am.  We arrived at 9.30 and it was probably too late for a family with young children....  long queues for the abbey and crowded narrow streets.  Well worth a visit though.  Dinard and St. Malo are beautfiul, stunning buildings, elegant shops, nice restaurants.  Carolles beach had everything we needed and great rock pools for the kids.  Hours of fun with the croquet after we learnt the rules.  Thanks to Neil and Christine for a great stay.  We would love to return for longer.   John, Angela, Hamish, Kip and Elizabeth.

We could not have chosen a more perfect Gite in the whole of France.  The views, the pool and our hosts Christine and Neil were brilliant.  Villedieu les Poeles and Mortain are worth a visit.   Robin, Rita and Isobel Wilcox, Kent, UK.    August

Lovely week here in France.  Beautiful views to wake up to every morning!  The Gite was lovel and comfy, very homely.  Thank you.   Katie, Frank and Maisey.   Wallington. UK   September

A truly wonderful week in the beautiful french countryside.  Perfect location and perfect hosts.  Thank you so much Neil and Christine, your advice on places of interest to visit were so helpful.  Really enjoyed Arromanche, a must see experience.  Hope to come back.  It's on my bucket list, we have never stayed anywhere quite as tranquil as La Hallotiere.  Au revoir Colombage.  Au revoir Therese.  Sue and Mark Tamplin, Australia.  September 2013

Thank you Chris and Neil for giving us such a warm welcome and for being so kind and helpful.  We loved our very comfortable stay here in Colombage, at La Hallotiere.  A wonderfully quiet and peaceful setting and so lovely especially in the sunshine.  Our week was full of good things - visits to excellent local markets, a fascinating tour around the Bell Foundry at Villedieu-les-Poeles, a moving visit to Utah Beach Museum and the beach itself.   Au revoir Normandie, we loved our time here and hope to return one day.   Bill and Juliet Drummond, Bromley, Kent. THANK YOU FOR A LOVELY HOLIDAY IT WAS AMAZING. I LOVED THE POOL AND CROQUET - KATY (AGED 9)
We have had a lovely week here in France. We really enjoyed using the pool and the croquet lawn and the BBQ (so nice not to have to cook!) We went to Mont St. Michel, lovely walk, enjoyed lunch in a cute little restaurant and went up as high as we could! Alligator Bay is described as 'Epic' by both Katy and Keiran (age 6) The really loved the tortoises. Champres Zoo is to be recommended too fantastic day.
We also visited the markets in Brecey and Villedieu les Poeles which was quite big and the homemade frites were awesome. Also, driving/stopping and having a look around the beautiful villages is also a must. Most of all a big thank you to Neil and Christine for making us feel so welcome! We loved the Stone House and the children enjoyed the pool and croquet. Thanks again. Talie,Chris, Katy and Kieran Mulhere, Edenbridge. Kent UK.
Arrived 26th July to a lovely welcome from Neil and Christine and a wonderful cottage called Stone House. We have been to quite a few places, Festyland - good for kids up to about 12/13 yrs. Mont St. Michel is well worth a visit and Alligator Bay near the bottom is an enjoyable diversion. Villedieu les Poeles is a really nice town. The Bayeaux Tapestry and Memorial Museum are a must. Lots of lovely villages around. Good Pizzeria in Brecey. A great time had by all. The girls (2 x 13 years old) didn't want to leave and neither did we. Thank you Neil and Christine for being kind hosts. Barbara, Simon, Phill, Imogen and Eleanor. :)

Thank you Neil and Christine for an enjoyable week in Stone House. We spent the days touring Normandy, and got a real taste of the French culture. On Sat. the day we arrived we got the train from Villedieu les Poeles to Paris! A fantastic trip, one which we would definitely recommend. The zoo was definitely worth it, you are allowed to pet the animals! We also made a trip to St. Hilaire de Harcouet - a great market. The Bayeux Tapestry was really fascinating and the town itself was nice to go around. The cathedral there is a must see.

Overall a great week! House was comfortable and the pool was great fun. The locals were friendly too and encouraged us to speak French with them! The Smyths, Ireland. .

We have enjoyed a brilliant week at 'La Hallotiere' on our second summer holiday here. The weather has been kinder to us, which has made a big difference. Bringing cousins, who stayed in 'Colombage' also helped. We saw Mont St. Michel again and the beaches at Carolles. We managed to eat at the seafood restaurant this time - really good food, with good childrens food and highly recommend it (think it is called Jazz restaurant just off Carolles beach).
We had an epic day at Dinard/St. Malo. The water taxi was good fun and the architecture stunning. The beach was also very easily reached. Get there early to get parked.
La Hallotiere is as relaxed as ever, and we will continue to recommend to friends and family. We hope to be back soon. Thomas (7), Sophie (5), Olilver (2and half) Mummy and Daddy.

We have all enjoyed a lovely week in Stone House, made even more enjoyable by a week of beautiful sunshine. Finlay used the pool everyday either before or after days out in the surrounding area. We used the BBQ several evenings and sat drinking wine watching the sun go down. The croquet lawn was certainly entertaining and different. Neil and Christine were the perfect hosts, making sure we had everything required and informative on where to visit, eat etc. We couldn't wish for more. Many thanks. Denise, Steve, Richard, Louise and Finlay. Banstead. UK
Fabulous holiday, great weather, it was nice to just spend time in the pool which was kept wonderfully clean (thank you Neil). The Stone House is very comfortable and well equipped. We had some great days out, Mont St. Michel is a must, as is the Bayeux Tapestry. The D Day museum at Arromanche and the Zoos in Champrepus and Jurque. Festyland is good for kids young and old, Mum was even persuaded on some of the rides.
The market at Villedieu les Poeles and St. Hilaire are very good. We had a lovely meal at L'Abbaye very good food and reasonably priced. Thanks Neil for making the booking. A Big Thank You to Neil and Christine who made us very welcome. (the cidre on arrival was a lovely tough and really appreciated). We will definitely be back and will be sure to recommend to our friends and family. Heather, Kyle, Rebecca, Steph and Tegan. Fife. Scotland.

Thanks Neil and Christine for making us so welcome. The Gites were great and the kids (as well as the adults) loved the pool.
We had some great days out and would recommend getting to Mont St. Michel at 9am to avoid the crowds. The Enchanted Village was perfect for the 4 year olds in our party. The Mums loved the Spa at Dolville les Bains. (we have left a brochure).
A lovely sunny Normandy holiday. Many Thanks. Kat, Simon and Lottie. Northwich. UK.

A big thank you to Neil and Christine for making us feel so welcome. I'm writing in this book sat out at the table in front of the Gite that has been one of my favourite spots on this holiday. It is just so tranquil and idyllic. Children loved the pool, and one even started enjoying showers after having a shower with 'all the mod cons'. I think our favourite day was a triple trip to Domfront, Bagnoles de Lorne and St. Fraimbault - the town of flowers. The pedalos came as a great surprise to the children and the loved them. Merci Beaucoup, Jon, Helen, Alice and Adam.

An enjoyable week in a lovely tranquil location. Spring failed to arrive but it made no difference to the kids who enjoyed the spatious grounds and places to play. We made it out to lots of interesting places, including parts of Normany we had never even heard of! A very good spot for a holiday. Thanks for all your helpful advice on local logistics and where to go. Very best wishes for the rest of the season. John, Adelia, and Gabi. Hertfordshire. UK.

A really beautiful setting, so restful. We holiday'ed with 2 close family friends and the location and facilities could not have been more perfect. Neil and Christine the perfect hosts, would recommend to anyone especially with young children. Granville had everything we wanted, beautful sandy beach, great restaurants and we would recommend the Thalasso Treatment Centre at the Best Western in Granville. Book yourself a massage. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as us. Thank you again. Stephen and Felicite. UK July 2013.

We have had a lovely fortnight. Christine and Neil have been brilliant hosts, really helpful and friendly and kind. The Gite was spotless on our arrival and very well equipped. We would definitely recommend La Hallotiere to friends. The children would have happily spent 2 weeks in the pool but we did manage some good day trips. Donville and Carolles beaches were both lovely and sandy with rock pools. We enjoyed a day in Mortain riding bikes, seeing the waterfalls and eating at L'Abbaye. We also had 2 good child friendly days out to the zoo and The Enchanted Village. We finished the holiday with a lovely lunch at Auberge de Moulin. A great end to a great holiday. Thank You. Chris, Kate, Emily (7) Tom (4) and Hannah (8 months)

Had a great time here in Normandy, even though the week flew by! Le Gite was very comfortable and homely as well as spacious. The canoeing and fishing was great and so was the walk around La Petit Cascade. We especially loved the pool and could spend all week in there! We had a lovely meal at Auberge de Moulin:) Many thanks. Tony, Ruth, Emily and Jack Riley. Stroud. UK. August

A great time had by all. the weather was lovely. The pool was great for cooling down after a hot day and greatly enjoyed by all. Lovely clean and well equipped Gite, plenty of space in the grounds for all visitors to enjoy. A fantastic holiday, very relaxing. Lots to do all around the area, if you can pull yourself away from this lovely relaxing place. Many Thanks. Andrea, Steve and George. Plymouth. UK. August

What a lovely part of the world to visit! We have thoroughly enjoyed our week in Normandy, the weather was beautiful and Le Gite has been a really comfortable, clean and spacious home for the week with everything that we needed. The grounds are beautiful and the pool has been a huge hit with us and our lads. A big thanks to Christine and Neil who have been really thoughtful, helpful and welcoming hosts - and have given us some really useful advice on the best places to visit. In the surrounding area, we really enjoyed a visit to the forest near St. Sever. great for a walk and a picnic! Mont St. Michel was another thoroughly recommended day out which even our young sons (6 and 4) enjoyed. The Enchanted Village was fantastic and particularly great for young children. There is also some great CYCLING to be had in teh local area - REALLY QUITE ROADS AND SOME GREAT HILLS towards Perriers eu Beauficiel. Many thanks for a fantastic week.
