In addition to La Hallotière’s heated, outdoor pool and nearby beaches of Carolles-Plage, Jullouville and St Pair sur Mer (about 45 mins drive) there are lots of other things for children in the local area. Here are some of them:



Parc de Loisirs L’Ange Michel                                                        30 mins drive
The Leisure Park is west of St Hilaire. As part of a day out here there is a picnic area. This offers great value for families for a fun day out in the lovely Valley de la Sélune



The Zoo at Champrepus                                                                  35 mins drive
The Champrepus Zoo offers a special association between the animal and plant worlds. Animals can be seen in real landscaped settings. There are picnic facilities and restaurants. Feeding times of the animals are posted so you can watch. There are big cats as well as many other interesting animals.  A
wonderful day out.                                        You might combine this with a trip to the old town of the pirate port of Granville (only 20 minutes from the zoo).



The Enchanted Village                                                                     10 mins drive
Our side of Mortain at Bellefontaine. This is an attraction oriented for the younger family 5- 11 yrs old is ideal. Situated in a large parkland it offers a variety of traditional attractions including a miniature railway, electric cars and a miniature fantasy land. It has recently (2011) changed hands and the new owners have spent a lot of money. It is very much improved!



The Reptilarium (Alligator Bay) near Mt St Michel                      1 hour drive
This is a very popular place with families. There are over 200 alligators and crocodiles! You might combine it with a day out at the unique Le Mont St Michel.

Saint-Malo aquarium

Could you imagine being in front of 8 magnificent sharks in a giant wraparound vision tank? Well perhaps not but there is a great tropical fish collection too. You can also take a trip in the submarine Nautibus . There is a bar -restaurant, gift shop and a free car park. A very exciting outing.                              The old town of St Malo is a lovely place to visit with walks, shops and restaurants.


Mont St  Michel, a must for anyone visiting the area. There are organized walks across the bay of Mont St. Michel from Avranches N.B. if you wish to walk in the bay you should only do so on the organized tours (must be booked in advance) The bay has the second fastest tide in the world it comes in at the speed of a galloping horse. There are many other walks starting from local villages, most of which give the opportunity for panoramic views across the bay.
